CEREC is a revolutionary way to restore damaged teeth today. Dr. Klim is pleased to offer his patients CEREC restoration services—an advanced method of creating precisely-designed, color-matched and highly resilient ceramic restorations right in our practice. From simple fillings, to full crowns to porcelain veneers, CEREC will deliver the results your mouth needs and can often be accomplished in a single appointment.
How does CEREC work?
After examining the tooth and determining the best course of treatment, Dr. Klim will coat a thin layer of reflective powder to the prepared tooth surface. Using the CEREC system, an optical impression is taken in the mouth using a state-of-the-art 3D camera. This digital image replaces the physical impression required in traditional procedures.High-tech CAD/CAM software allows Dr. Klim to design every precise detail of you restoration with the accuracy you’ve come to expect from us. This software allows us to customize the exact shape of the restoration to fit the particular needs of the damaged tooth.

Once the restoration has been designed on the computer, technological magic takes place! Exact design specifications are then sent to our on-site milling machine to create your restoration. In a matter of minutes, your all-ceramic, color-matched restoration is ready for placement. The new restoration is then fitted, polished and bonded for permanence. Your tooth is restored back to its natural structure, function and beauty.
What advantages does CEREC technology have for you?
  • Single visit onlays and crowns. Since Dr. Klim is able to design and fabricate the restoration immediately rather than sending an impression to a laboratory. You do not need to wear a temporary and return for a second appointment

  • Metal-free dentistry. Health minded people are increasingly becoming concerned with metal in their mouth (particularly mercury). A CEREC tooth restoration isn't just convenient; it is also the healthy choice. Years ago, dentists had few options when it came to repairing decayed and damaged teeth other than amalgam, gold, and other metals. With CEREC, Dr. Klim uses sturdy, tooth colored ceramic materials to restore your teeth to their natural strength, beauty, and function. These materials closely match the formation of natural tooth structure. This means when you eat hot food and then drink something cold, the CEREC restoration and tooth expand and contract at almost equal rates. So, your tooth does not crack, and you can go on enjoying your meal. Also, the materials are chemically bonded to your tooth, so Dr. Klim can save as much healthy tooth as possible while providing you with a dental restoration that strengthens your tooth. The CEREC enamel-like material is biocompatible with the soft tissues in the mouth and provides a high-grade, anti-abrasive and plaque-resistant finish.

Guided Implants

Modern materials and research allow Dr. Klim to replace missing teeth with natural, functional replacements far superior to traditional dentures and bridges.

Dentists have struggled for years to create natural replacements for missing teeth. Dentures and bridges have significant drawbacks, and never truly duplicate the appearance and feeling of your natural teeth. Thanks to space age materials and research, today's dentist can use much more practical tools to rebuild your smile. Dental implants replace missing teeth with permanent, natural-looking substitutes.
Now we have guided implants. We take a 3D picture of your mouth. This allows us to examine any potential implant zones and verify bone, implant angle and placement.

Implant guide for precise placement

Implants can be divided into two types: those that sit on top of the jaw bone under the gums, and those that fit into the jawbone like the root of a natural tooth. Both types provide solid, non-mobile support for replacement teeth which act and feel like natural teeth. Since both types are attached to your jawbone, they can provide distinct advantages over traditional methods of replacing missing teeth:
  • Proper chewing function is restored so you can enjoy foods too difficult to eat with traditional replacements.
  • Dental implants will not move or loosen.
  • Implants replicate the look, feel and function of your natural teeth.
  • No adhesives are required.
  • Dental implants have no clasps that cause damage to remaining natural teeth.
  • Painful, inflamed gums are eliminated.
  • Dental implants improve speech by eliminating or reducing the "fullness" of full or partial dentures.
  • Healthy teeth are not "cut down" in order to accommodate the replacements.
  • Dental implants help stop the progressive bone loss and shrinkage of your jawbone by "mimicking" the roots of natural teeth.
  • Implants are clinically proven, with a success rate in excess of 90%.

Creating harmony and matching in a central restoration is the ultimate aesthetic opportunity, particularly with an implant. Thanks to Dr. Paul Tiernan, who partnered in the treatment with implant placement, crafted an incredible soft tissue result. Final restoration was designed by Dr. Klim with CEREC technology and milled from an IPS Empress CAD Multi A2 block.

Do you hate that dark line around your crown...? We do, too.

The amalgam-mercury or "metal dental fillings" are contemporary restorations from the Civil War era. There is debate about the health risks these dental fillings may place on the body's immune system. In fact, even several European countries no longer allow these restorations to be used. The United States has not yet taken this position.

It is fascinating to observe the health authorities designate mercury scraps as a toxic waste... which must be isolated, packaged, and hauled away... by a hazardous waste disposal service

  • Mercury fillings waking the tooth over time by wedging the tooth apart.
  • Wedging effects produce fractures, resulting in broken teeth and micro-leakage.
  • Micro-leakage leads to bacterial invasion, a cause of recurrent decay and toothaches, which leads to root canals and possible tooth loss.

We know what you're thinking... WHY ARE WE USING OUR MOUTHS AS A DUMP SITE!? Why is our considered an appropriate, "safe" place to store hazardous waste, especially if there are healthier, longer-lasting options? Thankfully we have a solution!

With these new high-tech materials and biological "super glues," it is possible to bond teeth back together. In the majority of situations, crowns can be replaced with more conservative techniques. It is therefore possible to save the healthy, remaining tooth structure, instead of whittling teeth down, like a pencil by a sharpener.

We are also able to diagnose these problems in their earlier stages with the assistance of fiber optics and camera magnification technologies. By catching the potential fractures before experiencing symptoms of hot/cold sensitivity and biting pain, new conservative treatments are preventing the dreaded side-effects of toothaches and broken teeth.

How often do you get headaches?

Over 40 million Americans suffer from Myofascial Pain Dysfunction (MPD), a condition that causes headaches and muscular pain.

Estimates show that this disorder afflicts over forty million Americans. If you are one of them, you will relate to several of the following conditions:

  • Headaches
  • Dizziness
  • Numbness of fingers and arms
  • Difficulty swallowing
  • Limited movement of the jaw
  • Locking of the jaw
  • Clicking or grating sounds in the jaw joint
  • Pain behind the eyes
  • Neck, shoulder or back pain
  • Unexplained loosening of teeth
  • Earaches, stuffiness or ringing
  • Pain or soreness in and around the jaw joint

Dr. Klim uses advanced neuromuscular techniques to eliminate painful tension in the head, neck, and shoulder muscles. There is most always an underlying structural problem with the jaw in MPD. This leads to over-activation of the jaw, head and neck muscles. And, in time, will lead to tension, spasms, and pain. To correct MPD, the jaw must be brought back into a muscularly balanced position.

Underlying conditions relating to "TMJ" like symptoms are biochemical, emotional and structural. If we were to compare headaches to an overflowing dam, the reservoir is filled with run-off from rain, hail, sleet, and snow. When too many of these factors are present, there is an overflow resulting in a flood below the dam. Similarly, contributing factors may overflow the threshold to culminate in a head, neck and joint.

A major component of diagnosis in our office is Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation (TENS), Electromyograph (EMG), and Sonograph. These instruments have been used for years in medical specialties and are now being used in dentistry to measure muscle dysfunction of the jaw, which is the major culprit in the majority of patients reporting headache profiles.

Multiple symptoms make MPD difficult to diagnose. This is why an accurate diagnosis is important prior to expediting a solution.

Harmony with Metal-Free Dentistry

Many of you already know that I utilize a technology in our dental practice, called CEREC, that gives me the opportunity to give you a new crown or restoration in only ONE appointment. Besides the efficiency and precision of the restoration, the material we use for our clients is chosen because of it's bio-compatibility. We use materials that restore harmony in your mouth. We know that the ugly metal isn't natural, nor is the mouth an appropriate dwelling place for those old restorations. Research shows that the old amalgam fillings, over time, actually start to break down what natural tooth structure is left. The ceramics and restorative elements we have chosen don't stop with the tooth material.

We use what I call biological super-glues that keep these restorations at their peak performance for years. When working with the components involved with bonding restorations, we as dentists, have to be aware of how to best implement a bonding system so that your restorations will continually function as natural teeth. Picking a specific bonding system is not something I take lightly. It needs conclusive, sound research by the dental universities, objective dental researchers, and dental professionals. I choose the best of what the world has to offer for my clients.

I truly believe that my team and I can provide a better quality of life to our clients with the materials we select for our practice. We keep our ears to the ground with the most innovative products that have the backing of good, clinical research. Because of this our clients are comfortable and happy, but more importantly safe and healthy.

Another Year of Possibilites

Wow, 2012 is here!

When I reflect on 2011 I can see the progress I've made in my dental practice. We've had many great new clients, all of whom gave me the opportunity to change their lives through dentistry. They continue to help me learn and work to achieve a higher level of excellence.

I was privileged to teach dental professionals all over the world in the last year; Australia, United Kingdom, Canada, Aruba, and all over the U.S. Among those trips I visit some of the manufacturers of the products for dentistry and test materials before they reach the field. I have the ability to use the worlds top biological super-glues or bio-compatible tooth material that keep you, our clients, safe and happy. This year I am anxious for the advantages we will have in some new materials and products so that we can serve you better.

Our team is looking forward to the new year to develop themselves more. One of my team members told me that their resolution for the new year is not one huge accomplishment, but rather a series of baby steps. They told me, one month or even one week at a time they will address their resolution and try not to bite off more than they can chew. I think that is a great way to soak up the enjoyment of progress and to keep an optimistic view for this new year.

I look forward to spending this new year with our clients, our team, and most of all our families. I wish you a good start on this new year!

We recently got a new in-office whitening system that only takes 20 minutes!! It is called "Sinsational Smile" and it is as easy as taking 20 extra minutes for the appointment.
We use the pre-loaded mouthpiece with whitening gel and shine the light on it for 20 - 25 minutes. Our clients and team members are seeing amazing differences in just the quick little whitening session. You can call Debbie, our Front Office Administrator, and schedule an appointment, just ask her about "Sinsational Smile". You can also add it to an existing appointment and receive a discount. We like this product because it is quick for you, our clients, and it adds that little zest you are looking for after your hygiene visit or any other appointment you have with us.
Just call us and ask! 707.544.SMILE (7645)
